To identify your stamp, match the printed inscription on the stamp to a term in the inscription lists.

First, examine your stamp for an inscription. Then check the alphabetical list of inscriptions by clicking one of the page links, A-Z, above.

If you can't find your stamp's inscription in the list, choose another, and if you need more help in identifying your stamp, you can post your question on our stamp discussion forum.

Stamp Note :: Stamps that are not required to have a country name on them are from Great Britain (the United Kindom). This is in honor of the fact that it was Great Britain, under Queen Victoria and with the leadership of Rowland Hill, who first issued postage stamps in 1847 British stamps will have either a "p" (pence or penny) or a £ (pounds).
